Susan's Review of Brett: Bad Boys After Dark by Melissa Foster

Everything's naughtier after dark...
Billionaire security expert Brett Bad has had his eye on his brother’s gorgeous legal assistant, Sophie Roberts, for years. He wants nothing more from her than a single night between the sheets to satisfy his desires. But Sophie is a white-picket-fence girl, and she’s turned him down more times than he cares to count.

Sophie is all about forever kisses and happily ever afters. But she can’t deny her attraction to Brett, as enticed by his bad-boy behavior as she is by his devastating looks and his painful past, which she’d like to help heal.

When Sophie’s friend urges her to throw caution to the wind, Sophie leaves the door to her heart ajar—and Brett charges in. But this Bad boy doesn’t know a thing about romance and has no interest in forever, forcing Sophie to make her toughest decision yet—follow her heart or protect it?

Brett Bad is more than interested in Sophie Roberts, his brother’s legal assistant. He’s been flirting with her during most of the Bad Boys After Dark series. I adored Brett and his banter with Sophie in Mick and I was hoping Ms. Foster would write a happily ever after for the couple. Brett is a fast paced, opposites attract romance filled with humor, passion and fabulous secondary characters.

Family bonds and family values were important to both Sophie and Brett-- these themes resonated with me and I enjoyed every page of the couple’s journey. Although Sophie is a strong, independent woman who lives in New York City; she’s a small town girl with strong ties to her family and community. Loved that Sophie decided to take a leap of faith with Brett but remained true to herself. Brett is the youngest Bad brother and he has got a one and done reputation. Second dates are not part of his resume until he and Sophie connect. Loved the scenes when Brett struggled with dating—Brett was not a planner and his fumbles added lots of humor to the story.

Melissa Foster is known for writing fun, quirky, relatable secondary characters. I loved Sophie’s Mom, Dad, sister Lindsay, Grandfather but, it was Sophie’s Nana who practically stole the show from the main characters! Nana’s unfiltered comments and sassy behavior added so much to the story—loved that Brett found Nana adorable! Brett gained insight to Sophie during their visit with her family His conversation with Poppi about grief and appreciating life were honest, emotional and perfectly written.

Brett and Sophie’s story captivated me from the first chapter. Both characters grew during novel. Sophie and Brett were friends—they flirted at social events, texted each other but Sophie was torn about spending time with Brett. She took a leap of faith and found love. I adored that Brett wanted to be a better man for Sophie. Brett made a tough decision towards the end of the novel—he needed to apologize to someone and deal with his past before he could start his future with Sophie.

If you are looking for an engaging read full of humor, passion and love of family—this is the book for you.

And the epilogue….Brett breaks a few rules in the name of love—it’s the perfect ending to a fabulous story!
