Susan's Review of Whispers at Seaside by Addison Cole

Your next fun, flirty and sweet with heat romance!

WHISPERS AT SEASIDE
Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers #10
Addison Cole
Releasing June 13, 2018

Having a mad crush on her boss’s son, Matt Lacroux—an intriguing mix of proper gentleman and flirtatious bad boy—is probably not the smartest idea for single mother Mira Savage. Especially when the company, and her job, is already on shaky ground. But as a Princeton professor, Matt’s life is hours away from Mira’s home on Cape Cod, keeping him safely in the fantasy-only zone. And as a single mother to six-year-old Hagen, with a floundering company to save, fantasies are all she has time for.

With hopes of becoming dean off the table, and too many months of longing for a woman who lived too far away to pursue, Matt’s publishing contract couldn’t have come at a better time. He heads home to Cape Cod on a brief sabbatical, intent on starting his book, and finally getting his arms around sweet, beautiful Mira.

A surprise encounter leads to midnight confessions. The more time Matt and Mira spend together, the deeper their relationship grows, and the love and attention Matt showers on Hagen is more than she has ever dreamed of. But Matt’s sabbatical is only temporary, and Mira’s not saving his father’s company so she can leave it behind. Will their whispers of love be enough for one of them to change their life forever?

Whispers at Seaside is college professor Matt Lacroux and single mom Mira Savage’s romantic journey. This book is a wonderful friends to lovers’ romance with all the feels. The characters and the themes of the importance of family and friends drew me in to the story. The relationship which developed between Mira, Matt and Hagen enchanted me.

Matt Lacroux and Mira Savage met at an engagement party a year ago. The couple is attracted to each other but have remained friends because he teaches at Princeton and Mira works and lives in Seaside, Massachusetts. A three- month sabbatical provides Matt the opportunity to return home to reconnect with his family and explore his feelings for Mira and her son Hagen. Loved that Matt recognized that he needed to spend time with his Dad, sister and brothers. Matt understands that the time away from academia would enable him to reassess his priorities, slow down, explore his feelings for Mira and develop a positive relationship with Hagen. I liked that Matt was a strong, thoughtful, intelligent man and not as alpha as his brothers.

Mira Savage is a busy single mother. She works as a bookkeeper for Lacroux hardware and is devoted to her son Hagen. I loved that Mira was captivated by the charming Matt Lacroux and that Matt was intrigued by Mira as well. One of my favorite scenes is when Hagen, Matt and Matt’s brother Pete and father build a raft together. Loved that Matt showed Hagen how to research the building process, secure the logs with rope and choose the logs for the raft. Hagen was an important part of the team. I enjoyed every conversation between Matt and Hagan and loved seeing them bond together.

Addison Cole has created a great support system with the Seaside women. The author has created a core group of women who support each other’s dreams and passions. Each of the characters is unique and brings a different perspective to a situation. I enjoy that they support each other and tackle situations together. Loved that the Seaside friends saw merit in Mira’s proposal about Neil Lacroux’s business and supported her dream.

I adored the romance and the feel good aspect of this book. The characters are relatable. Matt is protective and has problems to resolve while Mira has trust issues to work through. The author does a fabulous job with both characters; the reader understands Mira’s desire and her hesitation to give her heart. Matt wants to romance Mira. He wants to be her everything-and he adores her child. Loved the ending of the book—a couple of great plot twists challenges the couple. The ending was fabulous—and yes Addison Cole aka Melissa Foster—you made me cry! (Again!!)

Whispers at Seaside is an engaging, feel good romance. Great characters, romance and family make the perfect summer read. And I loved that Hagan almost stole the show!

Susan's Review of Lovers At Seaside by Addison Cole

Your next fun, flirty and sweet with heat romance!

LOVERS AT SEASIDE
Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers #9
Addison Cole
Releasing May 9, 2018

After months of long-distance communication, actress Parker Collins and artist Grayson Lacroux finally plan to reconnect in the seaside town of Wellfleet, Massachusetts. But Parker never shows, and weeks pass without a word, leaving Grayson to believe he’s misinterpreted their budding relationship.

Parker has been running on autopilot ever since she lost her friend, mentor, and the only family she’s ever known, Bert Stein. Armed with junk food, tequila, and her big, lovable dog, she’s prepared to hole up and mourn—and determined to mend a fence Bert had never been able to with his estranged and bitter brother. But Parker didn’t count on the handsome artist she’s been fantasizing about for nearly a year walking in on her grief-induced drunken night.

When Grayson stumbles across Parker, he has no idea what to make of the gorgeous blonde who blew him off despite the chemistry between them. But that doesn’t stop him from feeling protective of the woman who’s consumed his thoughts for months, and when he learns of Parker’s plans to confront an angry old man, he refuses to leave her side. As Parker’s past unfolds, they’re led on an unexpected journey of discovery. Their connection deepens, until good intentions spark painful secrets, threatening the love they’ve found.

Lovers at Seaside focusses on loss and new beginnings. I feel that these deeply emotional and personal subjects set this novel apart from the other books in this series. The exceptional characters and their journey captivated me from the first page of the novel!!

Actress Parker Collins is grief stricken. Her friend Bert passed while she was away filming in Italy. She’s devastated because she has lost her best friend, mentor and the only family she’d known. Parker grabs her dog and retreats to her home in Wellfleet, Mass. I could relate to Parker’s sense of loss and her need to meet Bert’s brother and mend fences.

At first I wasn’t sure if Grayson was the man that Parker needed. They seemed almost too opposite. Grayson works for Parker’s foundation and they emailed each other regularly. Grayson is taken back when he realizes Parker has not shared a lot of personal details with him. Grayson feels very protective of Parker and he senses that she needs to grieve for her friend and needs a safe place to heal. His unwavering emotional support and caring attitude towards Parker won me over.

Addison Cole blends Parker’s relationship with Bert’s brother Abe into the story effortlessly. The brother’s relationship plays an important role in story’s resolution. Loved that Parker was welcomed into the Seaside community. Grayson understood that Parker needed a sense of normalcy, family and friends and he truly understood her needs during her journey from grief to acceptance.

The ending of Lovers at Seaside surprised me! Grayson makes a bad choice which tests the trust in his relationship with Parker. His actions devastate her and she leaves the Cape and returns to California. I loved that Addison Cole wrote such an honest ending—forgiveness and trust are two issues that everyone struggles with on a daily basis.

Lovers at Seaside is a heartfelt journey – with all the feels, great characters, dialogue. You will cry, laugh and enjoy this emotional friends to lovers romance!

Things are heating up at Seaside!

EMBRACED AT SEASIDE
Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers #8
Addison Cole
Releasing April 11, 2018

After working hard all day creating his beautiful metal sculptures, Hunter Lacroux likes to unwind with a hot babe–or two. But after spending a handful of nights with smart, sassy, and beautiful Jana Garner, the woman who challenges everything he does and says, Hunter wants more.

As a dancer, boxer, actress, and waitress, Jana is tough, organized, and as dedicated as she is committed. She has to be to maintain her crazy schedule. But when it comes to men, Jana’s had a string of bad relationships, and there’s only thing she’ll commit to–not committing.

Passion ignites every time Jana and Hunter are together, but the closer Hunter gets, the faster Jana runs. When Hunter lays on the charm, Jana throws out a challenge she’s sure he can’t meet, and Hunter steps up to the plate, forcing her to face her hurtful past or let go of him forever.

Embraced at Seaside is the sweet edition of the steamy romance novel Seaside Embrace by Melissa Foster

PLEASE NOTE: “Embraced at Seaside” is true sweet with heat. Jana and Hunter’s story is the steamiest in the series, and remains true to the characters’ personalities. As with all Addison Cole novels, “Embraced at Seaside” does not include any explicit scenes or harsh language (with the exception of an occasional “damn” or “hell”).

“Dream on,” she said with a smirk. “You wouldn’t know how to romance a girl if your life depended on it.”

“Is that what you think?” His eyes bored into her.

She held his stare, hating herself for getting even more turned on by the tightening of his jaw and the determination in his eyes. Knowing he wanted her that badly made her stomach flip and dip like a school girl’s. And darn it, she loved that, too.

“Don’t fool yourself pretty girl. There’s nothing I can’t do.”

Addison Cole’s Embraced at Seaside doesn’t follow the typical romantic storyline. The reader quickly learns that the two main characters are friends with benefits. Jana Garner and Hunter Lacroux’s journey towards happiness isn’t easy; it’s hard won. The author creates an honest, relatable story for the characters as they test the commitment and relationship waters.

The author descriptive writing style enables the reader to understand the deep emotional connection and the all consuming passion that the couple shares. Loved that Hunter accepted Jana’s challenge to romance her! Their first date watching the sunrise on the beach was perfectly written. …. And so romantic! After reading this scene, I was hoping Jana would relent and date Hunter!

The dialogue in the story is fabulous—the author is able to blend in lots of humor into the story while keeping the conversations funny, challenging and honest. I could relate to Jana’s fear of putting herself out there after being hurt so many times. Loved the conversations between Hunter and his friend Clark. Although Hunter was a good friend to Clark during Clark’s separation; he could not understand why Clark would consider walking away his wife and son. This secondary plot was subtly woven into the storyline as Hunter and Jana were feeling their way through their new relationship. I noticed the difference between the two couples. Hunter was determined to be there for Jana while Clark’s commitment to his marriage waivered.

Hunter expresses his love for Jana in so many different ways. Jana is muse – she inspired his metal sculpture and challenges him to be a better, stronger man. I liked that Jana was strong willed and yet, very vulnerable. She was afraid to give herself over to love and almost missed her opportunity with Hunter. The last few chapters in the book are emotional, beautifully written and very heartwarming. I cried when Jana finally got it—Hunter loved and accepted her for herself—when she saw his sculpture.

Embraced at Seaside is a fabulous read with all the feels. The author keeps the characters true to themselves in this sweet with (hot) heat romance. The relationship between the couple kept me invested in the story. I adored that Hunter accepted Jana’s challenge to romance her. I knew when Hunter looked up How to be Romantic on the internet that Embraced at Seaside was going to be a fabulous read!

Addison Cole’s Nights at Seaside is a deeply moving novel. Tattoo artist Sky Lacroux and poet Sawyer Bass are featured in this sexy, contemporary stand-alone read. The characters appealed to me and their journey touched my heart!

The author’s expressive writing style shines in Nights at Seaside. I could feel the connection between Sawyer and the audience at the Governor Bradford Inn as he began to sing on open mic night. I sensed that the intensity of Sawyer’s persona and the words in his ballad drew Sky to him like a moth to a flame. I enjoyed that the author focused on words throughout the novel. The importance of words and phrases are significant to Sky. As a tattoo artist she inks meaningful words and phrases on her customers. Sky collects scraps of paper with phrases from the mysterious P-Town poet and she is curious to discover the identity of the P-Town poet as she believes they are kindred souls. Sawyer is a complex character who cares deeply and passionately for those he loves. He is focused on helping his parents through a financial and medical situation. His writing, singing and the phrases that are tattooed on his back are an outlet for him to express himself creatively.

Addison Cole’s words flow like poetry in this novel. Sky and Sawyer are the perfect description for the word soulmates. They understand each other and their love story is very romantic. The author doesn’t waiver in her portrayal of Sky and her feelings towards fighting – it goes against her beliefs. Sky’s struggle with fighting, bloodshed and Sawyer’s desire to provide for his family is the crux of the drama in the novel. Does Sky believe in Sawyer enough to trust in their love?

Choices are important to each of the characters in this novel. Sky, Sawyer and Sawyer’s parents have difficult choices to make throughout the story. The conclusion to Nights at Seaside was perfectly written—both characters stayed true to their beliefs—have some Kleenex on hand. Loved the epilogue and I agree with Sawyer’s grandmother’s advice!

This is my favorite book in Addison Cole’s sweet version of the Seaside series and I highly recommend it. The author’s words perfectly portray the unique, endearing characters and their hard-fought personal and professional struggles. Nights at Seaside is on my keeper shelf.
