Dumplin' - Movie Review

Dumplin'
Netflix Movie Review
☆☆☆☆☆

This isn't a romance movie. But it surely
is all about love.
Mom is not the horror show you are
expecting. But she has her problems.
Dumplin' also has her lessons to learn.

Oh what a fun sweet emotional movie.
I loved it. Highly recommended.
Its probably not just what you are expecting.
But you will be glad you invested the
hours in it. On Netflix.
It also reminded me that Dolly Parton
might be the best person on the planet.

The Claiming of the Shrew by Shana Galen

The Claiming of the Shrew
by Shana Galen
☆☆☆☆☆

This is book 5 of the wonderful Shana Galen
series called The Survivors.
The Survivors are a group of military men. In various
chapters of their lives. Married. Not married. Struggling
with their pasts in different ways. But one thing that is
the same for all of them, they count on each other.
For situation back up. They depend on advice.
Some time ago, Benedict Draven married a young woman.
Catarina Neves. It was a marriage of convenience.
It provided escape for her, from a terrible home with her father.
This marriage saved her. It gave her a chance to become
a successful business woman using her lacemaking skills.
While she was making her life, Draven was off living his own life.

Five years later, Catarina appears in his life. She is requesting
an annulment. Claiming she wants to marry someone else.
But something about the request doesn't feel right to Benedict.
He asks questions but Catarina is not giving him clear answers.
He can feel there is something wrong.

Draven cannot just sign the papers and walk away. He is
married to Catarina after all. Even though they don't know
each other well, he feels a connection. She is in trouble.
But what can he do? Can she take care of this by herself?
Catarina has managed her life for all this time. She keeps
telling him it is all right. But is it?
The Claiming of the Shrew is a wonderful
marriage-of-convenience story. People that are capable and
strong, but deep inside, very insecure. Can the two of them
meet in the middle somewhere? You have to read it
to find out. And I recommend that you do!

Nobody But You by Jill Shalvis - Audible Version

Nobody But You
by Jill Shalvis
☆☆☆☆☆

Audible Version

Jacob Kincaid has found his way back home. It has taken a long
time. But sometimes, these things do. He did the right thing with
his mom. Keeping up with her. But he did not with the rest of
his family. And they are not one bit happy about that.

Sophie is free. And boy did her freedom have a high cost.
But of course, stubbornness added to that cost. Sophie has
decided to stick with it anyway. No matter what the cost.
Both Sophie and Jacob are in highly stressful times.
Their lives are in need of some direction.
There is a saying....
Every person comes into your life for a reason.
Either for you to learn something from them.
Or for them to learn something from you.
That is ever so true for both Jacob and Sophie.
They both manage to help the other to figure it all out.
So in the end, Sophie is happier. So is Jacob.
Now what? Do they go on their separate ways now?
After all, Jacob has to finish his time with the military.
Sophie is just beginning to find some peace.
Would it be possible for them to make a life together?
Jill Shalvis is one of the queens of fun romantic writing.
It is a true love story. I saw a review in which someone
recommended speeding up the listening time to 1.25.
That might have been just what was needed to make
the listening just right. But all in all, it was a good listen.

I got this copy from my library.
