A Ladys Dream Come True by Grace Burrowes

A Lady's Dream Come True
by Grace Burrowes
★★★★★
Grace Burrowes always writes a long book. Her stories
always seem to be longer than the number of pages
or the number of words. There is so much in them.
Every character is large. The places and situations.
You get to know so much. The characters are deep
and you can picture them. They are easy to see.
Oak Dorning knows exactly what he is doing. He has a
plan. He has talent. He has ambition. Oak was born an
artist. He thinks there is nothing else for him to be
but an artist. He knows the plan to achieve success
as an artist.
Verity Channing has no sort of plan at all. Her life is not
going as she wants it to. Though she isnt just sure how
to alter that path. She is a widow with just enough to
raise her son. But she will also be raising a daughter
left behind by her husband. Verity has to figure how to
stretch her budget to make that work without hurting
anyone. Her husband lead Verity to believe he left
treasure behind for her. Oh boy, did he ever!

A Ladys Dream Come True is a wonderful story. You will
get to know so many people. Not just Oak and Verity.
The feelings and struggles that life brings are laid out.
And then step by step, the pieces fall together, just
as they should. Of course. With a lovely sweet
happily ever after.

Caught Up In You-Claire Hastings

Caught Up In You

Leona Filipe loves her job. As the head of housekeeping at the luxurious Indigo Royal Resort on St. Thomas, USVI, she has seen it all and has the wild stories to prove it. She works with her best friends, is close enough to see her family often, and has the perfect friends-with-benefits relationship. Life is pretty damn amazing. Except for the two weeks each year that Cullen Cruz stays at the resort. He is the only man who can get under her skin. But that is all he’s getting under. She made that mistake years ago, and it will never happen again.

Fresh off the news of his “retirement” from football, Cullen Cruz cannot wait to get to the Indigo Royal for his annual retreat before returning to England to figure out what’s next. Only this year, it’s been turned into a “working vacation” by his agent, who volunteered Cullen to run a skills camp for local kids. While that wouldn’t normally sit well, extending the trip to teach some kids how to kick a ball does mean two more weeks getting to see the woman he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about since their first, and last, encounter ten years ago.

When fate forces these two to confront what happened between them that night all those years ago, they find that there is more to each other than they realized, and that maybe they don’t annoy each other as much as they thought...

Susan's Review of Second Chance Family by Cindy Kirk

Adolescent wounds vs very grown-up attraction. Toss in a small boy and mix well

My name is Margaret Fisher. I agreed to be the guardian of my best friend’s little boy should anything happen to her and her husband. Charlie is my godson and I love him to pieces.
When I was called into the attorney’s office after their tragic deaths, I thought I knew what to expect. Then Cole Lassiter walked in like he owned the place. My first thought was how amazing he looked after all these years. My second was shock. What was he doing here? I hadn’t seen him since high school when he’d broken my heart.
What is the attorney saying? We’re to be co-guardians of Charlie?
Nonononono.
This cannot be happening. It will not end well.
Then again, I’ve been mistaken before…

Margaret Fisher arrives at attorney Ryan Harcourt’s office believing she needs to sign guardianship paperwork. Her child hood friend Janae and her husband Ty had named her to take care of their son Charlie in their will. Margaret is surprised when Cole Lassiter joins the meeting and shocked when she learns she must share custody of Charlie with Cole—the man who broke her heart in high school.

Second Chance Family is a story of new beginnings. Both Cole and Margaret are challenged to put aside their feelings to do what’s right for Charlie. They dated secretly in high school and both of them still held bad feelings over their breakup. Even though there was chemistry between Cole and Margaret--each believed the worst about each other.

Margaret and Cole are strong characters—but they are not perfect which makes them relatable. Both of them had difficult childhoods; Margaret’s parents died in a car crash and Cole’s father died and his mother left him and his brother. Loved the conversations—some were emotionally charges and others were brutally honest-- between the couple as they figured out how to put aside their feelings and co-parent six year old Charlie.

Trust is an important issue between the couple. Margaret and Cole view the reasons behind their breakup very differently. Cindy Kirk does a fabulous job adding pieces to this puzzle bit by bit to allow the couple to understand what really happened. Loved that Margaret and Cole learned to listen and rely on each other as the novel progressed. The author did not make it easy for Margaret, Cole and Charlie; as there are several emotional roadblocks that need to be resolved before they could truly become a family.

Second Chance Family has all the feels—it’s an emotional story of loss, grief, love , forgiveness and new beginnings. I highly recommend this feel good story which tugs at your heartstrings!
