Susan's Review of Snow Place Like Holly Pointe by Cindy Kirk

Amazon | Goodreads

Will love be on their Christmas Lists?

Holly Pointe, Vermont might be the Capitol of Christmas Kindness, but when residents learn their beloved Mistletoe Ball has been canceled, goodwill is in short supply. Lucy Cummings feels like a grinch for canceling, but the ball is a financial lump of coal for the Barns at Grace Hollow. If she wants to save the venue she manages from being sold to an out-of-state buyer, she’ll need every penny she can earn to purchase it herself.

After years away, Trevor Sherwood has come home to Holly Point—and to Lucy. The last time he saw his former best friend, they were rambunctious kids. Now, Trevor is a talented entrepreneur and Lucy is a very beautiful--very stressed-out--businesswoman.

Trevor and Lucy soon realize their feelings go far beyond friendship. But with their personal Ghosts of Christmas Pasts haunting them, are they ready for love? When a massive snowstorm shuts down the town, nothing short of a miracle can restore Lucy’s Christmas cheer--and save their yuletide romance.

I look forward to Cindy Kirk’s Holly Pointe books each year! Love the characters, the gorgeous town of Holly Pointe, Vermont and of course the romance!

Snow Place Like Holly Pointe features businesswoman Lucy Cummings and artist Trevor Sherwood. Lucy and Trevor were childhood best friends until Trevor’s family moved when they were in middle school. Lucy manages an event center and the town’s marketplace. Lucy is saving to buy the buildings from her mother and revenue from each event counts. Trevor shows up unexpectedly to help Lucy during her busy season—and she welcomes the help and the chance to reconnect with Trevor. Love the slow burn romance—it sizzles!

Lucy’s decision to rent out the event center instead of holding the annual Mistletoe Ball has made her very unpopular with members of the community. I could relate to Lucy’s situation she’s trying to balance earning the funds needed to buy the properties and can’t afford to host the event for free.  I felt for her when several people gave her a hard time—especially when they reminded her that her that Kevin loved Christmas. Kevin and Lucy dated for years but, never married. Lucy threw herself into work and community events after he died.

Cindy Kirk brings the town of Holly Pointe to life! Loved getting to know Derek, Cameron, Mel and Kate and enjoyed how Trevor joined Lucy in the many holiday themed events! The romance between Lucy and Trevor was perfectly written—loved that they were given a second chance as adults to reconnect. Trevor’s story is a key element in the story—he’s overcome a rough childhood and turned his love of woodworking into a successful business—he’s a talented, thoughtful, kind person. Snow Place Like Holly Pointe blends romance, friendship and drama perfectly. Enjoyed reading this holiday book with its captivating characters, holiday themed events and surprising plot twists and turns.

If you are looking for a heartfelt holiday romance—Snow Place Like Holly Pointe is the perfect book for you!

Susan's Review of The Pink House by Cindy Kirk-- GraceTown Series Book 1

Deep in the forest, on a sun-drenched patch of lush green grass, surrounded by lily-of-the-valley, sits a pink house. With turrets towering like neighboring trees, and a wide welcoming front porch, the old Victorian is impossible to miss. Except that everyone in town has—everyone but Hannah Danbury.

It’s been a year since Hannah’s husband, Brian, lost his battle with cancer, just days before his thirtieth birthday. Over and over again Hannah has been told it’s time to move on. Trouble is, she’s not sure how. When her company downsizes and Hannah finds herself out of work, she moves back home to GraceTown, Maryland.

Hannah isn’t sure exactly what she’s hoping to find in GraceTown, but a mysterious pink house no one but her has ever seen isn’t it. Nor does she expect the woman living in the house—someone unknown yet still familiar to Hannah--to present her with a gift: a handwritten letter from Brian.

Who is the woman in the pink house? How did she get the letter? What is Hannah meant to do with all it reveals?

Answering these questions will lead Hannah to places—and people—she never could have imagined.

Cindy Kirk’s The Pink House is a heartwarming, thoughtful story of second chances. The characters, the romance and the small town setting drew me into the story.

Hannah Danbury has had an emotional year; her husband passed, her father is relocating to Florida and she was laid off from her job. She’s decided to move back home to her home town to start over. Loved that Hannah was a strong heroine—even though she’s lost her mother, her husband and her job—she’s a survivor.

Loved that Cindy Kirk paired Hannah with Charlie Rogan, Hannah’s late husband’s friend. At first, I thought they were polar opposites. As the novel unfolded, it was apparent that Brian would do anything for Hannah—he truly care for her. Brian put Hannah’s feelings first and he believed in her.

The Pink House is a beautifully written story that I could not put down. The novel is filled with relatable characters; I emphasized with Hannah’s struggles to let go of the past and become her own person. The chemistry between Brian and Hannah surprised me and I loved seeing their relationship unfold. Cindy Kirk’s descriptive voice works perfectly in this story as she weaves in the themes of trust and new beginnings while weaving in the elements of magic and romance effortlessly.

Hannah was shown signs throughout the novel that it was time to move forward and let the past go. Loved Hannah’s journey and that she came to understand that her heart wasn’t broken—if she gave herself permission to fall in love and live her best life.

The Pink House has all of the small town warmth and charm of a Cindy Kirk novel plus a subtle magical element which added to my enjoyment of the story. Loved the conclusion to this heartfelt story as it is full of unexpected surprises.

Looking forward to The Love Token—the next book of the series!

Review of Cindy Kirk's The One I Need, The One I Want & The One I Love--Silver Creek Series 4-6

The One I Need

An ocean and a secret just as deep separated them. Will a reunion in the Mile High City provide a second chance at love?

June Parker needs answers. Her sister Aubrey was killed by a hit and run driver 10 years ago. June and her mother cannot accept that no one saw Aubrey or offered to help her when her car broke down. In an effort to bring peace and closure, June has hired a private detective to help her solve the mystery.

June was introduced to Cameron Driskill while working abroad and wants to reconnect with him as he may have information regarding Aubrey's death—he could be the key to solving the mystery.

I loved the attraction between June and Cameron -- it was undeniable! June and Cameron held fast to their beliefs and supported each other during the investigation. I enjoyed how the couple faced the challenges in their relationship and the element of mystery in this novella.

The One I Want

She’s the love of his life, but is he the man she believes him to be?

June is continuing her quest to find out the identity of who left the scene of the hit and run. June and Cameron attend a fund raiser for Anson Hawkins. Anson is connected to both the Driskill family and to June. Anson and Cameron’s sister Eve are best friends who are attracted to each other. Anson’s name appears on June’s interview list—could he have been the hit and run driver?

Anson is passionate about helping others and he is admired for his integrity. On the surface, he’s the perfect fit for a seat on the City Council. But, does he remember the events of the party that he, Cameron, Aubrey and the others attended? This is the core element of the storyline. Cindy Kirk explores Anson’s character – something about the party haunts him and how will it impact his political career. Eve goes all on to help Anson—she has them re- create the night of Aubrey’s death—what will he remember? And what will be the cost to his relationship with Eve? And to Cameron and June’s second chance love story? I liked the combination of mystery, intrigue and romance in this novella.

The One I Love
Will four minutes from her past lead to a lifetime of heart break?

Eve Driskill’s world is turned upside down. A former boyfriend has betrayed her and suddenly she is a media sensation. I loved that Anson stood by Eve –he never faltered or hesitated in his love and support for her. The impact of the betrayal impacts Eve’s business and well as Anson’s political career. Loved that Eve and Anson grew closer as the scandal played out in the media.

Several people are eliminated from June’s list of partygoers and a surprising clue is provided to the police which helps uncover the identity of the hit and run driver. Cindy Kirk added the perfect amount of mystery and intrigue in this story. Loved following along as the suspects were crossed off the list—and I was totally surprised by the identity of the hit and run driver!

Kudos to Cindy Kirk for crafting a superb trilogy! June, Cameron, Eve and Anson were strong, dynamic characters! Loved Cameron and June’s second chance romance and Eve and Anson’s friends to lover’s story.

The hit and run mystery was perfectly written—each novella had a cliff hanger ending that was resolved in the next book. I loved this part of the story line because I was invested in the story and I wanted to figure out the mystery. Loved the twist and turns and the big reveal!

Cindy Kirk’s Silver Creek series is full of engaging characters, family drama, mystery and lots of heartwarming romance! Add these novellas to your summer reading list—you will enjoy them!

Susan's Review of Love Me Sweet by Cindy Kirk--Jackson Hole-- #11

Cinderella and Prince Charming don't only live happily ever after in fairy tales...

Sylvie Thorne doesn't consider herself a runaway fiancée. Okay, she did leave her fiancé, Dr. Andrew O'Shea, behind but logic told her it was for the best. She should have never accepted his ring. She was a struggling baker trying to rise above her humble beginnings and he was a Boston blueblood. It was obvious, at least to his family and friends, that they were an imperfect match.

When Sylvie bolted, she didn't leave a glass slipper for Andrew to find, only a simple text. She never expected him to follow her to Jackson Hole wanting closure.

Twenty-one days with Sylvie is all he asks. Three weeks for him to accept that they were never meant for happily ever after. Instead of proving how little they have in common, all the conversation and togetherness makes for a sweet reunion and has this prince-of-a-guy hoping fairy tales really can come true .

Sylvie Thorne Andrew O’Shea are featured in Cindy Kirk’s Love Me Sweet. I enjoyed this story of second chances and loved the author’s passionate descriptive voice.

Dr. Andrew O’Shea travels from Boston to Jackson Hole to seek out his former fiancé Sylvie Thorne. Andrew is devastated that Sylvie broke up with him via text and vanished into thin air. He can’t move forward until he understands why she ended their relationship. Loved the unusual plot twist—Andrew wants to immerse himself into Sylvie’s life to understand her. He hopes to find out that they are too different so he can move forward. The author does a fabulous job balancing the simmering passion between the couple, their need to be open and honest with each other and their need to belong.

Cindy Kirk is one of my go to authors because she creates captivating characters. Being together 24/7 worked for Sylvie and Andrew. Both of them were at an emotional crossroads –this drew me into their story. It was apparent that they cared deeply for each other—but was that enough to build a future? Loved the honest, often emotional conversations between the couple. Sylvie learned to trust Andrew and opened up to him about her childhood and her desire to belong, to be valued. Andrew understood that Sylvie expressed herself through her baking. Baking wasn’t a hobby for Sylvie—it was her passion. Andrew learned to trust Sylvie and he experienced a sense of freedom in Jackson Hole. He met other doctors in the community who shared his passion and he volunteered at a free clinic.

Love Me Sweet is an engaging, compelling second chance romance. Cindy Kirk writes a fabulous story for Sylvie and Andrew. Loved that both characters had the opportunity to become friends while their chemistry sizzled in the background. Loved that each chapter revealed a new clue, a new layer to their relationship. I rooted for this couple and wanted them to realize that their love for one and another was the icing on the cake!

Susan's Review of Remember Me In Good Hope by Cindy Kirk---Good Hope Series #18

The mind may forget, but the heart always remembers…

Natalia Costa doesn’t know what caused her car to careen off Lake Shore Drive. The crash didn’t take her life, but it did take her job, her home, and three months of her memory. When a picture of a handsome stranger sparks a familiar feeling, Natalia is certain this mystery man can help her fill in the blanks.

Luther Gannon likes being a loner, even if his Good Hope neighbors don’t. Experience has taught him that getting close to people often ends in heartbreak. While it’s nearly impossible to live privately in the close-knit community, Luther has managed to keep his painful past out of the public eye--until Natalia Costa turns up in the town square.

Luther never dreamed he would see Natalia again, not after the way their short-lived relationship had ended. He can’t ignore her plea for help or his desire for a second chance with Natalia. But even if Luther can help her remember their past, how will he explain the one night he has been trying to forget?

Natalia Costa awakens after a three- day coma to find her life has gone sideways. She is recovering from a serious car accident; her car skidded off the road and hit a tree. She’s lost three months of her life—and she has no recollection of why she was driving on Lakeshore Road. A photograph taken of Natalia and Luther Gannon is her only clue to her past.

Cindy Kirk writes a compelling story for Natalia and Luther. The attraction between the couple sizzles and the slow burn romance unfolded perfectly. Natalia’s desire to regain her memory and to understand why she and Luther ended their relationship drives the storyline. Natalia is an intelligent, career driven personality—she has no family or friends as work consumed her. She’s at a cross roads—she’s lost three months of time, her job and her home—and she’s frightened. Luther Gannon has relocated to from Detroit to Good Hope to expand his family’s business holdings. Luther is a dynamic character-his compassion and desire to help Natalia combined with his strong work ethic captivated me.

The author provides both Luther and Natalia a do-over. Loved that the couple became immersed in the Good Hope community and realized the importance of friendships and community. Cindy Kirk creates appealing, complex characters—each one plays an important role in the Good Hope community. Loved catching up with Izzie, Theo, Ruby, Katherine and Gladys. As Natalia remembers bits and pieces of her memory, she tries to reconcile her past with her present, while Luther realizes that he can also make different choices.

I loved the pairing of this couple – their romance and the heartfelt, emotional conversations—it worked for me. The elements of danger and suspense incorporated into the well-paced storyline added to my enjoyment of the novel.

Remember Me In Good Hope is the perfect beach read—pick up a copy and enjoy your visit to Good Hope!

Susan's Review of No One Like Her by Cindy Kirk--Hazel Green Series--Book #4

What happens in Chicago…

When Erika Eads last saw Wells Pomeroy, harsh words were exchanged. Fast forward eight years. After running into Wells on one of the worst days of her life, she finds herself sleeping with him!

Wells Pomeroy is many things; respected business owner, devoted single father, responsible eldest son of the politically prominent Pomeroy family. What he is not is impulsive.

With Erika back in Hazel Green, they agree that friendship is best. Still, it’s not long before people notice the spark between them. But Wells hasn’t dated since his wife died. While Erica would never try to replace her friend, she can’t live in another woman’s shadow.

When a relationship bombshell drops, rumors and gossip in their close-knit community cause Wells and Erica to questions their feelings. Wells doesn’t want to lose Erika, but can he offer her what she needs? Or will they part ways again, this time forever? (less)

Wells Pomeroy needs a weekend away from work, his family and the memories of his late wife Dani’s tragic death. He checks into a hotel in Chicago and heads to the hotel bar to watch the Cubs game. He recognizes a woman at the bar as Erika Eads, Dani’s best friend, and senses sadness in her eyes. Wells invites Erika to his room to catch up and to watch the Cubs game—this invitation leads to an unexpected night of passion.

Erika and Wells shared a deep connection-she was his wife’s best friend. Wells did not get along with Erika—she was too much for Wells- too opinionated, too confident. Wells and Erika had heated words at Dani’s funeral and had not spoken in eight years. Erika returns to Hazel Green for a visit and meets Wells and Dani’s daughter, Sophie. Erika offers to share memories and photos of Dani with Sophie.

Cindy Kirk does an excellent job as she compares Erika’s genuine understanding that Sophie needs to connect with her Mom with the guilty feelings Wells has about his one night of passion with Erika. I could understand Wells’ struggle—he loved his wife and family and truly believed that Erika was not his type but he wanted to keep Dani’s memory alive for his child. Erika has surprising news for Wells which changes his well-structured life –she’s pregnant. He immediately offers marriage and Erika turns him down stating she will only marry for love. Wells and Erika agree to build a relationship—I loved this plot choice as it enabled both Wells and Erika to see each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

No One Like Her pulls at your heartstrings. Wells lost his wife and sister in tragic accident and he never thought he’d never fall in love or have more children. Erika was devastated when she learned she could not have children and viewed her pregnancy as a blessing. One night changed this couples lives and this story is about acceptance, the importance of love, trust and respect and moving forward as a family. Cindy Kirk explores themes throughout this novel—there is conflict and drama, passion and honest conversation—all the elements that I adore in a novel. Adored the characters of Erika, Wells and Sophie and rooted for this family.

I highly recommend Cindy Kirk's No One like her--and can't wait to read the next Hazel Green book!

Susan's Review of Cindy Kirk's All The Right Reasons-- Jackson Hole Series --#7

When a good girl ignores the rules, crazy things can happen…

Social worker Poppy Westover had once been an incurable romantic. Cheated on by her ex and now, divorced at thirty-four, she’s determined to live her life by the book. She may deviate on some smaller points, but one rule is absolute. She will not get involved with another doctor. One was more than enough.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Benedict Campbell isn’t looking for anything serious. He’s intrigued by Poppy and the tension that fills the air whenever they’re together.

Spontaneity isn’t in either of their vocabularies, but the heat between them is too strong. One evening they give in to the attraction, but only after setting up a few ground rules. When it’s done, they walk away and never speak of the night again.

But never speaking of it again becomes hard to do when there's a baby on the way.

Cindy Kirk returns to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for this captivating story of second chances.

The pairing of social worker Poppy Westover and Dr. Benedict Campbell surprised me. Ben is an extremely busy surgeon and has been linked to several woman throughout this series—none of the relationships panned out. Poppy returned to Jackson Hole after a painful divorce and was rebuilding her career and was starting to socialize with her friends. The intense sexual attraction between the couple drew me into the story immediately.

Both Ben and Poppy have trust and commitment issues. Cindy Kirk writes a compelling story for this couple. Ben and Poppy are allowed time to explore their friendship and own their feelings for one and other. Poppy can’t help but compare Ben with her former husband. Both men are charming, confident surgeons who adhere to schedules and are used to getting what they desire. The similarities are too much for Poppy in the beginning of the relationship and haunt her throughout the story. Ben has trust issues and isn’t sure he can fully commit to a relationship.

Cindy Kirk weaves several themes -- families and their expectations, infidelity, infertility and freedom of choice-throughout the novel. She is able to incorporate these themes into Ben and Poppy’s story effortlessly. I could relate to the push-pull of the romance because with each chapter the couple shared more with each other.Their conversations were filled with honestly, anguish and heartbreak… so very relatable.

I adore Cindy Kirk’s voice – her characters are multi-faceted and her well-plotted stories are filled with compelling issues Ben and Poppy’s journey was passionate, emotional and so very rewarding. Am looking forward to the next Jackson Hole story.

Susan's Review of Home for the Holly Days by Cindy Kirk-Holly Pointe Series

A model who lost the limelight. A hockey star benched from the game. Will a small-town Christmas celebration reveal a most unexpected gift?

Going “Holly” Wood isn’t what America’s sweetheart, Krista Ankrom, had in mind when she made her annual Christmas trip to Holly Pointe, Vermont. Frustrated after losing another job to a younger rival, and fearing she’s walked her last runway, she’s hoping the happy site of her childhood Christmas pasts will be the perfect hideaway. But when asked to team up with NHL superstar Dustin Bellamy to save the town’s weeklong holiday celebration, how could she say no?

Dustin Bellamy is devastated that his days on the ice could be over. Needing distraction after suffering a career-ending injury, he agrees to be the celebrity host for his hometown’s Christmas celebration. But when his beautiful co-star—and former high school sweetheart, Krista Ankrom--shines a light into his bleak world, he worries his jingling emotions will distract him from his next professional move.

Beneath a sky of softly falling show and twinkling lights aglow, will Krista and Dustin share a yuletide fling? Or will the magic of the season bring them the real thing?

Cindy Kirk’s Home for the Holly Days is a heartfelt novel of second chances. Dustin Bellamy and Krista Ankrom’s families next door to rented cabins each other during the Holly Point holiday season for many years. Dustin and Krista are given a second chance to explore their feelings towards each other. Their story takes place during the town’s annual Holly Days festival where all things Christmas are celebrated!

After losing an important account, Krista and her friend Desz Presley decide to escape the glitz and glamour of New Your City to spend Christmas in Holly Pointe, Vermont. Krista describes Holly Pointe to Desz as “A picture postcard of how life can be.” Krista understands that she needs to make a career pivot and a visit to Holly Pointe will give her the time and space to plan her next step.

Dustin Bellamy has spent 20 years pursuing an NHL career. He lives and breathes hockey; he can’t imagine life without competing. An injury has forced him to sit out the season and may have ended his career. He’s returned to Holly Pointe to regroup and come up with a plan.

Loved that Dustin and Krista decided to work together to help promote the Happy Holly Days festival. Loved the interaction between the fans and Dustin and Krista and that the couple enjoyed working together. They realized that their presence drew people to the festival and that helped the crafters and artisans sells their work. Loved that the couple embraced the holiday spirit and enjoyed the winter activities.

The romance between Krista and Dustin is perfectly paced. Cindy Kirk creates characters that engage and intrigue me. As the Holly Days ambassadors, Krista and Dustin are trending on social media. But, that’s on the surface; as behind the scenes they are falling in love while dealing with huge career path decision. Krista and Dustin approach their career pivot differently; Krista thought process is logical while Dustin’s approach is emotional. Dustin offered support to Krista when he was having a hard time deciding on his future; he was torn and is being influenced by others. Cindy Kirk does not shy away from conflict between her characters—this added a lot of emotion to the story line. Loved the secondary character of Desz as she immersed herself in the Holly Days celebration and offered friendship and support to Krista. I hope to read her story soon!

The town of Holly Pointe embodies the true Christmas spirit- the sense of a community coming together to bring joy and the Christmas spirit to all. I adored this novel and can’t wait for the next Holly Pointe book from Cindy Kirk.

Susan's Review of The Real Mr. Right by Cindy Kirk--Good Hope Series--#16

Free-spirited Oaklee Marshall loves living life on her own terms. She once thought she’d found Mr. Right but realizes now he was oh-so-wrong for her. Free-spirited Oaklee Marshall loves living life on her own terms. She once thought she’d found Mr. Right but realizes now he was oh-so-wrong for her.

Oaklee’s joie de vivre and larger-than-life personality captured Isaak Cochran’s attention from his first day in Good Hope. Having grown up in chaos, tradition and stability are important to him. Still, there’s something about Oaklee he can’t resist.

An impulsive bet to walk in the other’s shoes for a week propels each into an unfamiliar world. Will the experience confirm they are as different as night and day? Or will it put them on the path to true love?

Oaklee Marshall caught my attention when she landed on her brother’s door step in A Match Made in Good Hope. I have been patiently waiting for matchmaker Gladys Berthhof to find Oaklee’s Mr. Right!!

Cindy Kirk writes a very romantic, thought provoking story for Oaklee Marshall and Isaak Cochrane. I was engaged in their journey from the first page of the book – the characters resonated with me. Cindy Kirk has taken Oaklee and immersed her into the Good Hope community. Oaklee is happiest when she is helping others. She runs errands for her friends at the senior center, helps out with community events and assists Gladys, Ruby and Katherine with their matchmaking schemes. Oaklee may not have a traditional job or career path but her enthusiasm and positive attitude bring joy to the Good Hope Community.

A job with Good Hope Outfitters brought Isaak Cochrane to Good Hope. His love for the outdoors; sailing, fishing, snowshoeing and his genuine rapport with customers make this job a perfect fit for him. I loved that Isaak was drawn to the small town feel and traditions of Good Hope something he had in common with Oaklee.

Loved the chemistry between Oaklee and Isaak, their back and forth banter the author’s entertaining twist on the friends to lover’s romance. Oaklee dares Isaak to live the Oaklee life for one week and she’d would reciprocate. Isaak surprised Oaklee because he was open to new experiences while Oaklee’s people skills and positive attitude contributed to the success of Good Hope Outfitters.

Cindy Kirk has hit a grand slam with The Real Mr. Right—it’s a heartwarming, romantic story filled with laughter and drama! I have been waiting for Oaklee’s story for several books—and I absolutely loved each page of this novel! Can’t wait for the next Good Hope book!

Susan's Review Of Just Say Yes, Can't Say No & Don't Say Maybe By Cindy Kirk-- Silver Creek Series Books 1-3

Cindy Kirk's Silver Creek series is fantastic! I loved the tie in to the author's Good Hope series. The engaging characters, the sizzling romance and the family drama kept me reading.

Just Say Yes
Britt Appleton in Colorado, staying in the new Silver Creek complex, trying to meet Denver’s Most Eligible Bachelor before her job interview but having no luck. At least she’s made two new friends since arriving in the Mile-High City; JR’s grandmother and a construction worker, Amos Lee. The scruffily-sexy carpenter couldn’t be more different than the clean-cut JR, but Britt finds herself falling head over heels in love.
Review
Just Say Yes is an engaging, character driven contemporary novel by Cindy Kirk. Brittany Appleton and JR Driskill appeared in the author’s Bachelor Games in Good Hope which featured Britt’s sister Bea. Although they were in town at the same time the couple never crossed paths in Good Hope. Britt makes a bold move by using JR as a reference when she applies for a social media position in one of his family’s businesses. I found this piece of the storyline enjoyable and engaging—I had to see how it played out.
Britt arrives in Denver for a job interview only to learn that the meeting has been postponed. She’s between jobs and is counting on winning the position with the Colorado Grizzlies football team. Britt meets Amos Lee and they have an instant connection; Britt is drawn to the intelligent sexy carpenter and Amos is wowed by Britt’s positive go getter attitude and generous spirit. I loved, loved the chemistry between Britt and Amos.
I love Cindy Kirk’s voice—she blends family, romance with real life situations. Just Say Yes is perfectly paced and the plot conflict is relatable and draws the reader into the story. The novel had the perfect amount of romance and unexpected plot twists to keep me intrigued.

Can’t Say No
Having secured a position as social media specialist for the Colorado Grizzlies--the football team owned by the Driskills—Britt is determined to prove her worth. Worried her ties to JR might cause her boss, JR’s sister, Nyla, to dismiss her abilities, she asks JR to keep their relationship private.

JR wants to support Britt and agrees to her request. But keeping their growing love under-wraps is easier said than done. When their relationship is splashed across gossip sites, Britt’s reputation takes a hit.

Review

Can’t Say No is the second book in Cindy Kirk’s Silver Creek series. The complex family relationships, the compelling drama and the multi-faceted characters intrigued me.
Cindy Kirk has created the perfect balance between emotional, passionate romance and family drama in this novel. The romance between Britt and JR and the sensual relationship between Nyla and Deron drew me into the story. Britt and JR’s relationship is tested several times during the story. Nyla holds herself to a high professional standard—so high that her decisions impact members of her family and the family business. Each couple had secrets—secrets that when revealed will shake the Driskill family personally and professionally. Can’t Say No is a well written contemporary novel. Family relationships between siblings, parents and grandparents are explored. Cindy Kirk wowed me with the storyline, superb dialogue and the many surprising plot twists.
If you are looking for a well plotted contemporary romance, pick up a copy of Can’t Say No!

Don't Say Maybe

Deron has been in love with Nyla since they were seventeen, stealing glances in the hallways of their high school. Running across her in Paris, far from family and prying eyes, was his hoped-for miracle. He knows they could be so good together, if she would just give him a chance.
While they agreed what happened in Paris must end there, the feelings that have grown between them can’t be denied. When the truth is revealed, both will be tested on how far they are willing to go for love.
Review
Don’t Say Maybe is a steamy contemporary novel filled with secrets and family drama. The third book in Cindy Kirk’s Silver Creek series features Nyla Driskill and Deron Flock. The intensity of their secret romance surprised and intrigued me.
Deron asks Nyla to take over a mentoring a group of recent college graduates. I was not sure if Nyla was up to the challenge of counselling and guiding the group through the job search. Nyla lived and breathed her job and often put it before her family. During each meeting, Nyla offered suggestions, solved issues and provided support.
The program enables the author to showcase the positives of Nyla’s business experiences. Deron attends the meetings as an observer and Nyla appreciates his support—this strengthens their relationship. The real benefit of the mentorship group—Nyla is provided with the opportunity to reassess her own life.
Cindy Kirk engages the reader with the forbidden romance aspect of the novel. Deron and Nyla decide to keep their relationship a secret because of the long standing, bitter feud between their families. I loved that the couple was given an opportunity to explore their relationship away from family and work pressures. Don’t Say Maybe is filled with dynamic characters, superb dialogue and a passionate romance.
Deron and Nyla’s off the charts romance drew me into the story but, the well plotted storyline kept me turning the pages to its satisfying conclusion!

Susan's Review of Finding Home in Good Hope by Cindy Kirk--Good Hope Series #16

From friendship to forever...

Just when it seems she is finally ready to let down the walls she’s built around her heart, a mutual friend makes a startling confession. Will this revelation send Gianna packing once again? Or will she and Ethan find a way to move from friendship to forever

<

Cindy Kirk pairs entrepreneur Ethan Shaw and hair stylist Gianna Ricci in Finding Home in Good Hope. Gianna is a newcomer to Good Hope and the author’s choice of pairing the couple drew me into the novel.

Ethan Shaw and Gianna Ricci meet at Marigold Rallis’s New Year’s Eve party. They form a tentative friendship over champagne and appetizers. This does not go unnoticed by the town’s matchmaker Gladys Berthholf. She has decided that Ethan and Gianna would make the perfect couple. Gladys is reminded by her friend Ruby that Oaklee Marshall thinks of Ethan as hers.

Cindy Kirk’s choice to incorporate a love triangle into this story was an excellent decision. There are several complications; Oaklee is friendly with Gianna, she thinks she’s in love with Ethan and she has helped Gladys match several couples. Cindy Kirk writes a fabulous story for Oaklee. The author’s descriptive writing style shines during the scene where Gladys announces that Ethan will be matched with Gianna, not Oaklee--it’s heartbreaking, compassionate and loaded with emotion. Gladys’s announcement causes a rift between the longtime friends and provides Oaklee with the breathing room to grow from the experience.

I liked the chemistry between Ethan and Gianna and that Ethan understood Gianna‘s hesitation in beginning a new relationship. Ethan made a conscious decision to keep things friendly-so Gianna wouldn’t be scared off. I laughed when I read Ethan’s reaction to answering Gladys’s relationship card questions and hoped the cards would deal him a winning hand. Knowing that there was chemistry between the couple made reading their slow burn romance very enjoyable.

Finding Home in Good Hope is an entertaining read filled with emotion, heartbreak and romance. I love the Good Hope series because of the strong sense of community, caring and friendship. I adore Cindy Kirk’s voice as she weaves themes of friendship, family and relationships in each novel.

I adored Finding Good Hope because of its theme of finding your forever love—it was the perfect Valentine’s Day weekend read.

Susan's Review of Surrender Your Heart by Cindy Kirk-Seriously Sweet St. Louis Series-- #3

Nurse Grace Comstock needed a date for Thanksgiving STAT. She never expected Dr. Nick Tucci, who volunteered at the free clinic where she worked, to offer to escort her.
At the feast Nick convinced her family that he was her adoring boyfriend. Even Grace found herself falling under the handsome doctor’s spell.
She soon finds herself wishing their pretend relationship might blossom into true love.
Though Nick has fallen hard for Grace and wants her in his life for good, she’s reluctant to open her heart to him. The handsome doctor must somehow find a way to convince her that her pretend boyfriend is ready to become her loving husband.

Surrender Your Heart is the third novel in Cindy Kirk’s Seriously Sweet St Louis series. Loved this fast paced, character driven romance.

Pediatric surgeon Nick Tucci surprised me in a good way. He is tired of his sister playing matchmaker for him because her friends see dollar signs, not Nick as an individual. He has offered to accompany his co-worker Grace Comstock home for Thanksgiving weekend. Nick wants to enjoy turkey, stuffing and pie and watch football. He doesn’t count on enjoying the weekend and getting to know Grace and her family.

Grace is feeling family pressure; especially since her younger, married sister has just become a mother. She reminds herself that handsome doctors like Nick aren’t interested in the girl next door. After several failed relationships, Grace has built a wall around her heart. Although she loves her work at the clinic, she longs for a husband and family of her own—this made her very relatable.

I adored Grace’s nosy Aunt Nellie! She was always meddling in Grace’s life —and as a reader I couldn’t help but adore Nellie. Loved that Nick flirted with Nellie and adored their fun, teasing back and forth banter –it added a lot of humor to the story!

I adored Nick and Grace’s story and loved the unexpected plot twists at the conclusion of Surrender Your Heart! I adored the sizzle between Nick and Grace, the witty dialogue and the romance.

If you are looking for a book to warm your heart during this snowy weather—grab a copy of Surrender Your Heart!

Susan's Review of - - As if You Were Mine by Cindy Kirk (Seriously Sweet St Louis #2)

He'll do whatever necessary to keep her safe...

Christian music star Sara Michaels has a stalker. And a secret. When her management team hires Crow Tucci to be her bodyguard, Sara knows the bad guy isn’t the only one who has to watch out. Rugged brutes aren’t usually the type of men she goes for, but Crow hits all her buttons. He’s tall, dark and utterly delectable.

He carries with him an air of danger, as disturbing as it is exciting. He’s with her 24/7, following her everywhere—including to church, a place he never thought he’d go again. As the two fight their growing feelings for each other, the stalker closes in.

Crow has vowed to do whatever necessary to keep her safe, but he doesn’t know her secret. Without that information, neither of them may be safe.

Crow Tucci was not the bodyguard Christian singer Sara Michaels envisioned. His long hair, snake tattoo, t-shirt and jeans screamed biker, not bodyguard. Cindy Kirk’s compelling characters, their chemistry and the sense of intrigue drew me into this fast paced, edgy novel.

Salvadore “Crow” Tucci is on a 6 month leave from the St. Louis police department. He needs time to recharge, connect with his family and take a break from his undercover persona. He’s been hired to protect Sara because she’s received threatening notes and to uncover the sender’s identity.

Sara Michaels is not the squeaky clean Christian singer that she appears to be. She was placed in foster care as a teenager, joined the church choir and is now a promising Christian performer. Sara is a strong character. Her determination for a better life plays an important part of the storyline. I liked that Sara made mistakes and misjudged Crow. It made her relatable. Sara saw Crow for who he was on the outside—the biker boy look and attitude—but as she got to know him she realized that she made a mistake.

Forgiveness, trust and secrets are woven into the storyline in As if You were Mine. Crow locates Sara’s mother, Ilene. The conversation between Crow and Ilene was emotional, heartbreaking and honest. Crow understands why Sara was placed in foster care and most importantly, the role Gary Burke played in that decision. Crow realizes two things after this conversation- Ilene’s guilt and grief concerning her daughter and that Sara is hiding something—something big.

As If You Were Mine has all the feels—captivating characters, sweet romance and an edgy storyline filled with intrigue! Am looking forward to Surrender You Heart, the next book in the series.

Susan's Review of If I Belong With You by Cindy Kirk

Angel Morelli’s youthful looks make her the perfect police officer to go undercover at a local high school to bust a drug ring. Passing as a student is easy but keeping her feelings for her history teacher, Jake Weston, under control is a whole different story. She doesn’t believe he’s involved in trafficking drugs but until she can rule him out, she’ll keep her eye on him.
A devoted coach and teacher, Jake is struggling to accept his brother’s tragic death. When Angel walks into his classroom, he senses something different about her. He quickly discovers she isn’t a student at all! But why is she at his school? Could she be part of the drug ring that police have been trying to bust for months?
Staying close seems the best option and the most dangerous, at least where his heart is concerned.

Cindy Kirk’s If I Belong With You is the first book in the author’s Seriously Sweet St Louis series. The characters, storyline and setting are much different from author’s Good Hope and Jackson Hole books. I am drawn to the unique and appealing characters in Ms. Kirk’s novels. Angel Morelli and Jake Weston are two of Ms. Kirks the most compelling characters.

Angel Morelli is a police officer who is tasked with going undercover at a local high school to determine who is dealing drugs. She has information that some of the baseball team may be dealing drugs. Angel is a strong, savvy young woman who knows from experience how to infiltrate the group and sort out the players.

Jake Weston is the assistant baseball coach. He is having a difficult time coming to terms with his brother’s death. Angel senses that Jake is distracted—but finds him to be a nice, kind man-could he be the drug dealer? I liked that Angel had conflicting feelings for Jake. This story element blended perfectly with the themes of faith and forgiveness.

Cindy Kirk blends trust, faith and a bit of romance in If I Belong With You. The bible study scenes were superbly written. These pages provide insight into the characters of Jake, Angel, Mike, Emily and Jarvis by using descriptive dialogue. This chapter provide the author the opportunity to add in an element of intrigue to the plot as well.

If I Belong With You is a timely, thought provoking novel. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Loved the sizzling chemistry between the couple in this slow burn, second chance love story. For the Love of Ivy has just the perfect amount of romance blended with great characters, honest conversations and relatable conflict.

Susan's Review of True to You in Good Hope by Cindy Kirk

In Good Hope, Piper sees herself as a woman totally in control. That control frays when her sister becomes engaged to her ex. Not only is she asked to be the maid of honor, her sister wants Piper to make her wedding dress!

Piper thought she was doing the right thing, keeping the real reason for that long-ago split a secret from her family. She now sees her mistake.

After ditching a promising career in NYC, Anders Cross has spent the past three years crisscrossing the country, trying to find the soul he’d lost in his pursuit of success. When he arrives in Good Hope to visit his brother, it’s supposed to be just another pit stop.

That was before Piper. As the two grow close, old lives become roadblocks to growing love. In order to embrace a future together, Piper and Anders must each confront the past. The stakes couldn’t be higher. Not with lasting happiness on the line.

Cindy Kirk pairs bridal shop owner Piper Ambrose and former advertising executive Anders Cross in True To You in Good Hope. I loved that Piper and Anders connected at Beck and Ami Cross’s wedding. The spark of attraction between the couple made this second chance romance hard to put down.

Piper and Anders are both at a cross roads. Piper has a lot on her plate; personally and professionally. Her once successful bridal salon is struggling since it moved its location and her mother and sister are pressuring her to create a bespoke bridal gown. Anders abruptly left a successful position at an advertising agency and has been working out west for years as an outdoor guide. He’s agreed to stay in Good Hope for the holidays as he visits with family and figures out a career path.

Cindy Kirk creates memorable, relatable characters and is a fabulous storyteller. Piper and Anders have a lot in common- both are strong, pragmatic individuals. Loved the honesty in their conversations and that Anders understood Piper’s reluctance to trust people. Cindy Kirk has created a deep friendship between Bea, Charlotte and Piper in the past three Good Hope books. I was glad to see these three women support each other in Piper’s story and that my favorite matchmaker, Gladys, made several well timed appearances in the novel! Enjoyed that the author wove both Piper’s and Ander’s’ family members into the storyline as it provided a lot of insight to the plot.

Piper and Anders story is a fantastic addition to the Good Hope series—it’s a powerful story of forgiveness, hope, love and community set in Door County, Wisconsin. I look forward to reading about the next couple who is gifted with Gladys’ relationship cards!

I highly recommend True to You in Good Hope! It is a feel good book –which is exactly the type of book needed in these uncertain times. Pick up a copy, pour a glass of wine and settle in for a fabulous story!

br/>

Worth the Wait by Cindy Kirk is a heartwarming, feel good novel filled with a cast of captivating characters.

Cindy Kirk is a fantastic storyteller. She creates flawed, relatable characters, adds in a relationship conflict or two and stirs in the right amount of romance to heat up the storyline.

There is chemistry between architect Dan Major and his nanny Amy Logan. Amy feels it but, widower Dan does not plan to marry again. Amy appealed to me-she was at a crossroads personally and professionally and knew she had to make changes in her life. At first, I thought Dan wasn’t honest with Amy-but as the book unfolded I began to understand what motivated him. Loved the characters of Steven and Jake and how their conversations prompted Amy and Dan to think outside the box.

Worth the Wait has all the feels- it’s a romantic, emotional and entertaining read.

Susan's Review of Cindy Kirk's Her Kind of Hero - Jackson Hole 6

Love isn’t on her list…

Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Mitzi Sanchez has always had a plan for her life.

Through hard work and self-sacrifice, she fulfilled her dream. Mitzi has a thriving practice and the spacious home she’s building in Jackson Hole is a far cry from the tiny apartment in East Los Angeles where she grew up.

Now she’s ready for a husband. She’s got a plan for that, too. Trouble is pilot and local handyman, Keenan McGregor, doesn’t meet any of the criteria.

After taking the blame for someone else’s actions, Keenan is in the process of rebuilding his life from the ground up. He doesn’t need unwanted distractions—in the form of a sexy doctor—causing him to lose focus.

Only when they find themselves falling reluctantly in love do they realize plans need contingencies. Like what to do when you forgot to factor in love…

I adored Mitzi Sanchez and Keenan McGregor’s opposites attract romance in Her Kind of Hero! Loved the pairing of Mitzi, the successful surgeon with the down-to-earth Keenan.

Mitzi was a secondary character in Healing the Doctors Heart. I admired her commitment to her career and her loyalty to her friend, Dr. Kate McNeal. Kate understands her friend’s desire to settle down. She also appreciates Mitzi’s determination to put her less than perfect childhood behind her and build a successful career. Kate remembered that Mitzi made etiquette lists during her residency so she would embarrass herself. Lists when she wants to learn about art, wine and books. Kate is not surprised that Mitzi has created another list— A Husband List-because she understands Mitzi’s fear of making a mistake.

Mitzi and Keenan meet at his Welcome Home party and the chemistry between the couple sizzled. Mitzi was attracted to Keenan but quickly dismissed him because of his past. Keenan has to rebuild his career—and a successful man is at the top of her Husband List.

The author does a great job balancing Mitzi’s growing feelings towards Keenan with her need to stay on track with her goal. At first, Mitzi seemed very superficial as she focused on success, not love. Mitzi’s less than perfect childhood influenced her decisions. Even though Keenan is charming, smart and determined to re start his career as a pilot; he believes he is not good enough for Mitzi.

Loved the conflict in the story-love vs. career—it’s very relatable. Cindy Kirk creates memorable characters and the charming, hardworking Keenan and career focused Mitzi are two of my favorites. Loved how both characters grew in the novel. On the surface they seem totally opposite but, as I read the book I realized how much they had in common and that they complimented each other. The story was very moving and I could hear the emotion and feel the passion in their conversations.

If you are looking for a book that will make you laugh, cry and smile —then Her Kind of Hero is for you!
