Sweet Rogue of Mine by Shana Galen

 Sweet Rogue of Mine

by Shana Galen

Sweet Rogue of Mine is Book 9 of the
Survivors Series. It's easily my favorite
Shana Galen series. Scheduled for
February 9, 2021.

Prudence Howard is humble and honest.
She is kind to those around her. Pru will help
anyone that needs it. And for some reason,
trouble seems to follow her around. Just waiting
for a chance to strike.

Then there is Nash Pope. He has survived war, losing
his sight and bullets. He has survived his own best
efforts to do himself in. Nash finds himself wandering
his property only to wind up stuck in the mud.

Then he hears a woman singing. His life is forever changed.
The next day, Prudence discovers his blindness. She tells
him that had she known, she would not have helped him
the day before. He is shocked that she would not have
helped him if she had known he was blind. As she explains
to him, "Those who are blind or deaf or crippled want to be
treated with the same dignity as everyone else."

"You offered assistance because you thought I had perfect vision."
"Exactly. I thought you were just being a typical man and
refusing help out of stupidity."
Nash all but choked at that statement.
"But if turns out you were just being determined. I have been
scolded by enough one-legged beggars to know that they
would rather do it on their own. It's a point of pride.
To offer assistance would be to imply I thought you were not
competent. I did not mean to make you feel so.
"That is certainly an .....interesting way of thinking
about the world."

This gives you all you need to know about Pru.
Nash and Pru have so many things against them. The world
does not generally look kindly at those with mental health
issues or a wide open way of looking at life. Can the two
of them come to terms? With each other? With those
around them? Those that have left them? Those that have
been there thru the worst with them?

Shana Galen has added a wonderful chapter to this series.
The Survivors continue on. Living and loving and enjoying life.

Susan's Review of This Cowboy of MIne- by R. C. Ryan --- Wranglers of Wyoming #2

A cowboy with a wild side

Kirby Regan isn't opposed living on the edge. After all, she just quit her career in Washington, D.C, so she could move back to Wyoming and buy her family's ranch. But hiking the Tetons after dark during a snowstorm goes beyond being adventurous, especially when Kirby's boss warns her that an escaped convict is at large. Sheltering in a cave seems the safest option to ride out the blizzard-until Kirby realizes it's already occupied . . . by a ruggedly handsome cowboy.

Like the mustangs he treats, veterinarian and rancher Casey Merrick prefers to live wild and free, which is why a relationship is not in the cards for him. He doesn't mind sharing his space with a gorgeous stranger, as long as they can both keep their distance-a task that begins to seem impossible as the attraction between them heats up. But before they can worry about the spark smoldering between them, Casey must find a way to protect Kirby from nature's most ruthless conditions . . . and a convicted killer on the loose.

RC Ryan’s This Cowboy of Mine blends romance and suspense perfectly. The author’s rich descriptive voice drew me into the story.

Veterinarian Casey Merrick has a deep respect and love for his family and the wild mustangs that live in the hills surrounding his family’s ranch. I loved the strong relationship between Casey and his great grandfather. Ham Merrick epitomizes the tough, no nonsense cowboy. The patriarch values honestly, hard work and family and he has instilled these values in Casey. These values test Casey throughout the novel.

Kirby Regan grew up on a neighboring farm. She has traded her career and lifestyle in Washington DC in order to purchase her uncles property. I like that Kirby was self-reliant and that her confidence enabled her to overcome several difficult situations.

RC Ryan does a fabulous job introducing Casey and Kirby! Think blizzard conditions, a dark cave and Kirby aiming gun at a sleeping Casey! Kirby believes she has stumbled upon an escaped convict! When the storm subsides, Casey and Kirby manage to reach his family’s ranch where she is welcomed by his family.

I enjoyed the slow burn romance that developed between Casey and Kirby. The author blends romance with suspense throughout the novel. The couple’s romance is at the heart of this novel but RC Ryan is able to maintain an element of tension throughout the novel as the convict has not been captured. This plot technique kept me turning the pages of the book.

This Cowboy of Mine is the first RC Ryan novel I have read. I loved the dynamic characters of Casey, Kirby, Ham and Gram Meg. I would love to read Aunt Liz and Jonah’s stories. The author’s descriptive writing enable me to picture the Merrick ranch and be a part of the family’s life.

This Cowboy of Mine has all the feels—it’s a feel good romance filled with fabulous characters and suspense!

Susan's Review of The Way The Story Goes by Samantha Chase- (Magnolia Sound #7)

Thriller writer Mia Kingsley has been hit with a serious case of writer’s block and she needs a little peace and quiet. A beach front property in Magnolia Sound seemed like the perfect escape and just the change of scenery she needs to get the words flowing again. That is, until her noisy neighbor starts running power tools and blasting music at all hours of the day and night. Before long, the next victim in her story starts to bear an uncanny resemblance to the contractor next door.

Austin Coleman never wanted to come back to Magnolia Sound. But sometimes, life takes an unexpected turn and the only way to get back on your feet is to go home. His plan is to avoid all things connected to his past, and renovating a beach house in the off-season is just the way to do that—there’ll be no neighbors and no distractions. Or so he thought until he almost maims his sexy neighbor with a flying sink. Despite his best efforts, trouble follows everywhere he goes.

At first she wanted to kill him. Now she wants to kiss him. Sometimes you have to wait and see where the story goes.

I highly recommend Samantha Chase’s The Way the Story Goes! I was engaged in Mia and Austin’s story from start to finish.

Thriller writer Mia Kingsley has a bad case of writer’s block. She’s escaped to a beach house to finish her novel. Her deadline is looming and the loud construction work going on next store was adding to her stress level. Her coping strategy? She started a new book titled Deadly Renovation—starring her loud next door neighbor! I loved this plot device as it kicked up the storyline a level, showcased Mia’s creativity and added a fun twist to the plot.

Loved Mia and Austin Coleman’s first meeting—he throws a sink off the deck and narrowly misses clobbering Mia. Loved the fun, flirty back and forth banter between the couple as they navigate a work truce, friendship and romance. Mia is beautiful, desirable, intelligent and an introvert. Family situations, and confrontations are not her forte. On the other hand, Austin is at ease with family parties and can hold his own in quarrelsome situations. Austin is a successful architect who has trouble believing in himself and acknowledging his successful career.

Samantha Chase is an incredible storyteller. Her characters leap off the page and into your heart. I really wanted this couple to believe in themselves and in their love story. I could relate to their situation and was pulling for their HEA.

If you are looking for a novel with all the feels—pick up The Way the Story Goes! It’s a fabulous character driven novel filled with flirty banter, memorable characters and a sizzling romance which will warm your heart!
