Kisses and Scandal by Shana Galen - Part of a Survivors Anthology

Kisses and Scandal
Part of a Survivors Anthology
by Shana Galen
★★★★★
Kisses and Scandal is the newest story in
the latest Shana Galen Anthology. These are
the friends and relatives of the characters in
the Survivors Series.
Philomena is the daughter of a duke. She is
quite beautiful. Phil has been hopeful for some
time now. Hopeful to fall into a love story. She
knows it can happen. She has seen it happen!
But it might be too late for her. She knows her
duty. Philomena must marry a man of
substance. Money and status. She knows all that.
But is it too much to ask for a man that
she can love as well? One who will love her?
James Finnegan is a lowly footman. Of course,
that is not what Lady Philomena sees when she
looks at James. She sees the love of her heart.
Handsome and sweet. James can make her laugh
at the same time he makes her blood run warm.
Over time, James finds that he feels the same way.
Unfortunately, during that time, James finds himself
in a spot. While it is a dangerous spot for him, it is
also set to be a terrible spot for Lady Philomena.

Can they find a way to keep James safe at the
same time keeping Philomena safe? Because of
their enormous differences in stature, they can
never go any further with their feelings.
Or can they?

I Kissed A Rogue by Shana Galen

This is Book 3 in the Covent Garden Cubs series.
He is now known as Sir Brook Derring. The best investigator
in England. Which is why he is called upon to find the kidnapped
Lady Lillian-Anne Lennox.
However, seven years ago, he was not good enough for her.
Every man wanted Lady Lillian-Anne Lennox. Her ego was
large. Brook was a nobody back then. A second son. Though
 he
was head over heels in love with Lady Lillian.
She left him shattered and broken hearted.
Lila did not even remember hurting him. She barely
remembered him at all.
Now, he has managed to save her from the kidnappers. Lila
witnessed a brutal murder while she was being held. Which
means her kidnappers are not done with her yet.
Therefore, Sir Brook is not finished either. They find
themselves far away in a ramshackle cottage hidden
deep in the woods. While he is protecting her,
they feel a strong physical attraction to each other.

"She hadn't known she could feel the way he
made her feel. It wasn't just the physical
pleasure, although that was certainly part
of it. But he made her feel as though she
were the most desirable woman in the
world. He looked at her, touched her, as
though he wanted her more than...well,
more than anything else. More than air or
water or life. "

Can they contain their strong feelings?
Will they have a physical relationship only?
Should Sir Brook take a chance on another broken heart?
Can Lady Lillian and her words be trusted?

I have read many Shana Galen stories. While I have always
liked them, this one is different. There is excitement and
adventure. But in addition, there is heat. Physical sexual
heat between the two characters. As I read it, I kept
feeling like Ms Galen has reached a more sophisticated
style in her writing. It was a compelling read. I believe
everyone will enjoy it as much as I did.
I got this copy from Netgalley.

Wicked Designs by Lauren Smith -- Audio Version

Lauren Smith's Wicked Designs is a fast-paced book filled with engaging characters, humor, intrigue and sexual sizzle. I was drawn into the story when Emily overhears the coachman accepting a bribe and realizes that she is being kidnapped. I knew from the beginning of the novel that Emily was my favorite type of heroine as she approached her situation very calmly and started to make a plan. Feisty Emily wasn't going to be kidnapped without a fight!

Godric St Laurent and his band of rogues have kidnapped Emily because Emily's uncle owes Godric a great deal of money. I loved listening to the banter between Emily and the rogues at breakfast. The narrator did an excellent job switching between the voice of Emily and the lords at the table.

I felt there was perfect balance between romance and intrigue in the novel. I wasn't entirely sure which rogue would capture Emily's heart. Godric? Ashton? Lucien? The romance develops as the story progresses. There are several villains and plot twists in this fast- paced adventure.

Enjoyed reading this book and the audio was fabulous.
Excellent narrator. Lots of nuances in the narration of the book.
Great audio for a long trip or a vacation. I listened to it driving to and from work and traveling to a dog show.
Even though I had read the book, I loved the audio so much that I listened to the ending in bed...it was awesome!
