Just because they've run away...

Ines Neves and Emmeline Wellesley have both run away. Ines hid in a carriage from a tedious suitor, only to find, too late, the carriage had traveled out of London, not just around the block. To make matters worse, the carriage is that of a stranger: a handsome Highlander. Or perhaps a big, strapping Highlander makes matters better? Emmeline Wellesley has had four Seasons and cannot tolerate another. To force her mother to listen to her, she's run away. But things haven't gone well. She's been locked in a closet, had all her money stolen, and somehow adopted a dog. When an old family friend shows up to save her, she doesn't exactly welcome his help.

Doesn't mean they don't want to be found.

Duncan Murray doesn't know what to make of the Portuguese-speaking woman in his carriage. She refuses to return to London, so he takes her to meet Nash Pope, a so-called friend who speaks Portuguese. On the way, he meets up with former soldier Stratford Fortescue and Stratford's opinionated distant cousin, Miss Wellesley. The four travel together to Nash's estate, and that's when everything goes really wrong. On the run to Scotland, Duncan finds himself increasingly attracted to Ines, even though he knows he can never marry her. Stratford has always wanted Emmeline, but his family secret means he doesn't deserve her. This excellent adventure might bring the couples together, but only if they manage to elude gun shots, a murderous brother-in-law, a vicious dog, and outlaws.

Shana Galen is three-time Rita award nominee and the bestselling author of fast-paced, witty, and adventurous Regency romances. Kirkus says of her books, "The road to happily-ever-after is intense, conflicted, suspenseful and fun," and RT Bookreviews calls her books “lighthearted yet poignant, humorous yet touching." She taught English at the middle and high school level off and on for eleven years. Most of those years were spent working in Houston's inner city. Now she writes full time. She's happily married and has a daughter who is most definitely a romance heroine in the making. Want to know more? Visit Shana's website at http://www.shanagalen.com

family for beginners by Sarah Morgan - Audio version

family for beginners
By Sarah Morgan
★★★★★
Audio Version

I have read a number of Sarah Morgan stories.
They are always terrific stories. This one is no
exception. But the overall drift of it is a little
different.
The main idea of the story is building a whole
family from pieces of other families.
We all bring our pieces with us. From our
family experiences, life experiences, love
experiences, health experiences and on and on.
If you meet a person that is the right one for you,
then you get to work putting the pieces together
to build a family.
I enjoyed the real life people in this story. Because
they felt like real live people. In my head, I could
see them as I listened. The emotions.....drama,
laughter, confusion, love, fear and more. Because we
humans are a hodge podge of emotions.
Sometimes, these things make no sense at all!
But there you have it.
The audio version of family for beginners is 13 hours
long. So you will certainly get your moneys worth.
I can recommend it as a story worth listening to.
I got this copy from my library.

Susan's Review of A Little Bit Wicked by Melissa Foster

At first, I wasn’t sure how an opposites attract romance for Chloe Mallery and Justin Wicked would work. Chloe is the epitome of the perfectly dressed, perfectly organized, perfectly polished professional while Justin is a tattooed sculptor who rides a motorcycle. Melissa Foster’s voice shines in this novel which captivated me from the very first page.
A Little Bit Wicked is a character driven novel. Although Chloe is attracted to Justin and they are friends-she has decided he’s not her type. She’s looking for a clean cut, button down shirt, khaki wearing guy—the total opposite from Justin. I loved it when Justin observed Chloe and her date and took an opportunity to end it. He knew he wanted more than friendship and gave Chloe the space and time to get to know him.

Family is at the center of this novel .Chloe and her sister had a tough childhood; there mother was more interested in herself than her daughters. Chloe stepped up and help to raise her sister and made sure to celebrate every milestone with her. Chloe and Serena are very close—loved the honest sister conversations. Justin was raised by the Reba and Preacher Wicked who taught Justin the values of respect, honesty and love and importance of family.

Melissa Foster writes an amazing story for Chloe and Justin. It truly has all the feels. It’s emotional, heartfelt, sexy and romantic. Loved it when Justin visited Chloe late one night to finish their dance. It was perfectly written and so very romantic. I really wanted Chloe to see past Justin’s bad boy image and see him for herself. She needed to stop thinking and follow her heart. Loved that Chloe understood the importance of Justin’s art – his creative side was a huge piece of his character. Loved that the author included an important office politics thread and the themes of family and friendship throughout the novel.

Can Justin convince Chloe that he’s her happily ever after? Pick up a copy of A Little Bit Wicked and find out.
