I have read a number of Sarah Morgan stories.

They are always terrific stories. This one is no 

exception. But the overall drift of it is a little 

different. 

The main idea of the story is building a whole 

family from pieces of other families. 

We all bring our pieces with us. From our 

family experiences, life experiences, love 

experiences, health experiences and on and on. 

If you meet a person that is the right one for you,

then you get to work putting the pieces together

to build a family. 

I enjoyed the real life people in this story. Because

they felt like real live people. In my head, I could

see them as I listened. The emotions.....drama,

laughter, confusion, love, fear and more. Because we 

humans are a hodge podge of emotions. 

Sometimes, these things make no sense at all! 

But there you have it. 

The audio version of family for beginners is 13 hours

 long. So you will certainly get your moneys worth. 

I can recommend it as a story worth listening to.

A Girls Guide to Moving On

Debbie Macomber is very popular and has been around

for a long time for a reason. Her books are wonderful.
She is a terrific writer. I cannot imagine where the

characters come from. They are always different.
Her stories don't seem to have a formula that she

follows all the time or anything. A Girl's Guide to

Moving On is exactly that. Storytelling at its best

Nichole and Jake have a child, Owen. They are divorced.
Leanne is Jake's mother. She is divorced from Jake's father,

Sean. The two women are very close. They support each other.

They each know where the other has come from. And Leanne

loves spending time with Owen. They live in apartments

across from each other in an active area of Portland.

The story is told from each of the women's viewpoints. It is 

the story of moving on. Just as the title says. I won't give 

away any more.  I will only say that its a wonderful story.
Its well written with a readers flow. Terrific characters.
As we all are, they are humanly flawed. I do recommend

this story to anyone, though I guess it does speak to 

women better.

If You Only Knew

I listened to the audio version of this story. Starting there,

it has to be noted that the narration was fabulous. It's the

story of two sisters. In brilliant fashion, they used two

narrators, Xe Sands and Amy Rubinate. This only added

to the pleasure of listening. They did a terrific job.

Having read a number of Kristan Higgins stories, I have

to start out saying, this one took her out of her own

comfort zone. Don't get me wrong, I love her comfort

zone. Her comfort zone is often my comfort zone.

 But this story strayed off from her normal style. At least,

it did for me. This is harder real life. The real life that

we normal people live. With deceit and anger. Not sure who

to trust. Low self esteem. Then, of course, you have your

sister. The one person on the planet you can share

everything with. Everything. The person you are always

sure it doing better than you are. The person you want to be

more like. Only of course, you find out their life isn't all you

thought it was. There is Kristans beautiful comedy too. You will
laugh as well as cry and worry.

This story took me up, down and all around. There

were moments that you could not figure out what she is

thinking. And you could not wait to find out. Jenny and

Rachel have a very interesting mother. We all know

someone with a mother like this. We also know people

that stay friendly with their ex husband. Everyone knows

that some people have the perfect marriage.

And then, none of it is true or good after all.

I highly recommend this story and especially in

the audio version. Such great writing

from Kristan Higgins to send off to the

fabulous narrators.

  And I will never look at a tree the same.

Four Friends - Audio Version Review

Four Friends

This was my first Robyn Carr experience. She is an author

that I see around often. But just never got around to reading.

I saw this one on sale at audible.com so I gave it a try.

As you might guess, it is a story of four friends.
They share a street in a typical neighborhood. I have
wondered, if I got to know the other women on my
street, would I find such a diverse group? They are each

very different women. Their lives, their marriages, children,

family, history, thought processes all so very very

different. And yet, they are able to be supportive and

encouraging of each other. There are secrets and mysteries.

There are plenty of those ah-ha moments.

I do highly recommend this one. If you have never tried

an audio book before, this is a good one. It is

twelve and a half hours long. So you definitely get your

moneys worth. The narration is terrific.

The only problem you will have is when to pause the story.
I had a hard time just stopping. I am guessing if I had

read the paperback, I would have felt the same.  

I can promise laughs and tears, surprise, shocks.
And at the end, you will probably go out your front

door and look up and down your street searching

for a truck. But I wont tell you whose truck. haha!

I will definitely give Robyn Carr another listen to or read.
