Christmas at the Castle - by Victoria Connelly - Audio Version

Christmas at the Castle
by Victoria Connelly
Audio Version
★★★★★

Christmas at the Castle is a wonderful little
Christmas story. I was really surprised at how
much story there was! For no longer than it is,
it kept going on and on. In a good way!

Victoria Connelly was a completely new author to me.
I loved the cover. I am a complete cover lover. I always
judge a book by its cover. Ms Connelly has written a
sweet story of family, during the holidays.
We often forget the important things at these times.
In this story, the characters help each other to
remember. Everyone ends up having a wonderful
vacation at the castle.
Jan Cramer is the narrator. I don't mean to gush.
I have no idea where she is from. But her
Scottish accent was so wonderful! Calming.
Easy to understand. Perfect for this story.
 I would have loved
to have the story go on longer just to listen to her.

I have gone on to another story from this author.
With Jan Cramer again narrating. Only this time,
it's a British accent! Typically, I struggle with them
in audio books. It's why I rarely listen to my much
loved historical romance. But her British accent is
also well done. Easy to listen to.

While You Were Mine by Ann Howard Creel

While You Were Mine
by Ann Howard Creel

Ann Howard Creel is a new author for me. This story
starts on the day World War II ended. Gwen Mullen is
a nurse living in New York City. As she is trying to make
her way home from the hospital, the city is going
crazy with excitement. As much as she
would like to enjoy the party, she needs to get home.
But when she arrives, there is a stranger on her porch.
A feeling of dread flows through her.
Seeing this stranger standing there does not feel right.

About a year ago, Gwen had a room mate that was a
new mother, struggling with postpartum depression.
Her room mate leaves Gwen high and dry with the baby.
This is a fast paced story with a lot in it. There is a lot
of history happening in the United States. Mental
illness is a big part of While You Were Mine. It's a
story of forgiveness. Finding strength inside you.
Strength to follow your heart. Follow love. Doing the
right thing even if it is so very hard.

I enjoyed this story. Ann Howard Creel put a lot of

emotion in the characters. Gave them so much life.
The place they were living as well. How real it all felt
while I was reading. I don't recall reading a romantic
story in this time period. But it surely is a story
full of love and romance. I did not want to sit the
book down once I started it. It flies by.
It ends with a wonderful ending. I was kind of
worried for a bit that was not going to be the
case, so don't give up. Keep with it. You will
enjoy it and be glad you did.

I bought my kindle copy of
While You Were Mine from Amazon.

Four Friends - Audio Version Review

Audio Version

This was my first Robyn Carr experience. She is an author
that I see around often. But just never got around to reading.
I saw this one on sale at audible.com so I gave it a try.

As you might guess, it is a story of four friends.
They share a street in a typical neighborhood. I have
wondered, if I got to know the other women on my
street, would I find such a diverse group? They are each
very different women. Their lives, their marriages, children,
family, history, thought processes all so very very
different. And yet, they are able to be supportive and
encouraging of each other. There are secrets and mysteries.
There are plenty of those ah-ha moments.

I do highly recommend this one. If you have never tried
an audio book before, this is a good one. It is
twelve and a half hours long. So you definitely get your
moneys worth. The narration is terrific.

The only problem you will have is when to pause the story.
I had a hard time just stopping. I am guessing if I had
read the paperback, I would have felt the same.
I can promise laughs and tears, surprise, shocks.
And at the end, you will probably go out your front
door and look up and down your street searching
for a truck. But I wont tell you whose truck. haha!

I will definitely give Robyn Carr another listen to or read.
This one was fabulous.
