The Meddler - Movie Review

 The Meddler

Movie Review

Released September 2015

I love mother-daughter movies. Especially when

they have a happy ending. It's a wonderful story.

Full of love. All different types of love.

When you have to be brave, you step out of

your comfort zone and say yes to everything.

I loved this movie. Say yes and watch it.

The Hero by Robyn Carr - Audio version

 The Hero

by Robyn Carr

Audio Version

The Thunder Point series by Robyn Carr is

so good. I have read and listened to it before.

Now, I am at it again. Thunder Point sounds

like the most wonderful place. I can see it all

in my head. The people. The town. The beach.

The new houses going up. The new bait shop.

On and on. The thing about Book 3 is the title.

It's called The Hero. But there are so many heroes.

In every book from the series. But especially this one.

And young mother trying to survive big mistakes.

A prior military man that will always feel like he owes.

A widower that is in over his head with feelings and

challenges but he still finds his way.

There are others.

I try to never put spoilers in my reviews.

But I will say these things......

Therese Plummer is a terrific narrator.

You will never have a dull moment in Thunder Point.

And if you are anything like me, you will want to

move to Thunder Point every time you read

another part of the series.

My Dads Christmas Date - Movie Review

My Dads Christmas Date

☆☆☆☆☆

I have been looking at this movie for a couple weeks.

Today, I finally decided to just do it. In the end,

I bought it for $5. You can't beat that price. So I

was happy right off.

Then, I watched it. I am so glad I went ahead and

bought it. Such a good show. I will watch it again.

It's a movie all about family and love and tolerance and

love and patience with each other and appreciation for

all the bonuses you get when you're lucky enough to

have people you love around you.

It's worth every penny and then some.

The star is Jeremy Piven. You may recognize him

from Mr Selfridge not too long ago.

I hope you and your family are having a wonderful

holiday season.

family for beginners by Sarah Morgan - Audio version

family for beginners
By Sarah Morgan
★★★★★
Audio Version

I have read a number of Sarah Morgan stories.
They are always terrific stories. This one is no
exception. But the overall drift of it is a little
different.
The main idea of the story is building a whole
family from pieces of other families.
We all bring our pieces with us. From our
family experiences, life experiences, love
experiences, health experiences and on and on.
If you meet a person that is the right one for you,
then you get to work putting the pieces together
to build a family.
I enjoyed the real life people in this story. Because
they felt like real live people. In my head, I could
see them as I listened. The emotions.....drama,
laughter, confusion, love, fear and more. Because we
humans are a hodge podge of emotions.
Sometimes, these things make no sense at all!
But there you have it.
The audio version of family for beginners is 13 hours
long. So you will certainly get your moneys worth.
I can recommend it as a story worth listening to.
I got this copy from my library.

Hope Harbor by Irene Hannon - Audio version

Hope Harbor
by Irene Harbor
Audio Version
★★★★★

Irene Hannon is a new author for me. I was
searching for an audio book narrated by
Therese Plummer. She is a favorite of mine.

Hope Harbor is the story of Michael and Tracy.
Each of them have such big stories.
I think they both were just looking
for a quiet place.
Tracy and Michael both need something. But they
think it's easier to stay where they are in their lives.
But of course, love wont let you hide behind
your fear. People in Hope Harbor wont let you
hide either.
With one twist and then a turn and then another.....
They find life can be open and free.
I enjoyed the surprises in Hope Harbor.
Things I did not see coming.

Worth The Fall by Claudia Connor - Audio Version

Worth The Fall
By Claudia Connor
☆☆☆☆☆
Audio Version
Worth the Fall is the first book of this series.
It is a story of such deep thorough romance,
you have to hope for them.
Matt is a single Seal. Handsome, tough
and determined. He knows what he wants.
He has made promises to his military
brothers. He is focused. Matt feels like
that is what makes a man a man. Keeping
his promises. Standing up for what he
believes is right.
Abby is at the beach. A widow with
four little children and beautifully blooming,
pregnant with child number 5. Abby has always
had to take care of herself. She knows how to
do it all on her own.
Now, you may be thinking that a story like
that cant be very realistic or romantic.
That a guy like that would never really be
able to make a life with a woman in that
position. Four and a half children!?
But it so works. It is such a romantic
story. I kept hoping that Matt was for real.
Can they make it work? Can anyone take
on such a large number of kids?
Plus a woman that does not need him.
I wanted it to work out so much with
Matt and Abby!! But there are so many
points in the story you are sure it is
not going to happen.
Its a story full of hope beyond hope.

Its sweet fun narration. And a
wonderful story.

Porch Lights by Dorothea Benton Frank - Audio Version

Porch Lights
by Dorothea Benton Frank
Audio version
☆☆☆☆
I always find it hard to begin a review. But it is
especially hard when the review is for a rolling,
overflowing story. A southern family, lead by the
larger than life Annie Britt. Her daughter is Jackie. Every bit a
southern woman. Jackie is a strong mother, to young Charlie.
She has managed to find her way out of the south and into the military.
Who would think it?

But now, Jackie is struggling with a life altering tragedy.
Her husband, a fireman, has died. Both Charlie and Jackie
are looking for a path to deal with this. The first path that
comes to Jackie is to go home. To the south. To her parents.
To the beach. To the predictability of her childhood home.
A good plan? That is what the story is all about.

Porch Lights is a story so full. Wonderful characters. Family
history. Relationships. Mistakes. Shocking moments.
Revealed secrets that will surprise you.
Dorothea Benton Frank has made every word count
in this story. There is a lot to write!
Robin Miles is the narrator. She does a fine job of making
them all sound southern without over doing it. Feelings
come through in her performance.
I liked this audio book and I will recommend it to
people that enjoy listening to sweeping stories.

Beach House for Rent by Mary Alice Monroe

Beach House for Rent
by Mary Alice Monroe
☆☆☆☆

The title gives away the location.
But the story is much more than a place.
The tale reminded me just how important
we all are to each other. We do tend to
close ourselves off. From our neighbors.
But how important the whole ''village''
really is to all of us. We all need each other.
Heather has lived with the trauma of a
serious accident since she was very young.
She has overwhelming anxiety issues.
Cara experiences a drowning tragedy over
the summer.

The two of them are taken under the wings
of a group of beach people. Beach people
with great big hearts and willing to do
whatever it takes to be the best friends
they can be.

There is so much happiness and peace
coming from this story, the place and the people.
Beach House for Rent is the place everyone
wishes they could spend a summer. Or a life.

Worth The Fall by Claudia Connor

Worth The Fall

It has been a very long time since I read a book
that struck me so hard. A book that I seriously did not
want to put down.
Worth The Fall starts out on the beach. I have noticed that

the beach can be a magical place in many romance stories.
Not so much here. It starts out nice but not magical.
Abby has brought her four children to the beach for

a family get away. She is pregnant and a widow. Does
not sound real magical, does it?
Matt is a SEAL. At the beach recovering from an injury.

He is also dealing with death. Matts best friend died out
on a mission. He feels compelled to recover physically
to get back into combat.
That's the background. As everyone is trying to

recover in their own way, Matt gets hit on his back
with a football. Really, that's how this amazing
wonderful love story starts.

Abby is a strong woman. But still, fragile.
Recovering from her husbands death as

well as raising 4 children by herself and
pregnant too.
Matt is tough but feeling unsure of what he
wants in his future. He has made a promise.
But he still isn't sure what he wants for himself.

The kids are fabulous characters. I know the
story sounds a little far fetched. But the writing

and the characters are so real. You can feel it all deep
into your own heart. Just about the time the hero makes
a big mistake. I was sure the story was ruined. No way
can he recover from this mistake.
But he does. The story does. It is so well done.

I loved it. Easily my favorite book this year.
Ms Connor is a new writer for me. Worth The Fall

is book one of this series.

I bought my kindle copy from Amazon.

P.S. I love you - Movie Review

Movie Review
Released in 2007
Starring Hilary Swank &
Gerard Butler

Yes, this one has been around for a while.
But, oh my goodness, you can't beat the
romance and love in this movie.
Ok, sorry, that clip is not the love and romance
that makes this movie incredible. But it does show
that there is also comedy. A lot of laughter.
Harry Connick, Jr is fabulous. All the characters are.
There is plenty of sadness and tears. But only in the
best possible way. Sadness and tears from love.
Now that clip. That's more like it.
Indeed this movie is one of the best most
romantic love stories. With an incredible ending.
For me, the ending of a movie or book can make
or break my opinion of it. Or it can make the
difference between average or amazing.
If you love movies with romance, emotions
running the whole scale of emotions, laughter
and a wonderful perfect ending, this would
be the movie for you.

The Girls of Mischief Bay by Susan Mallery

The Girls of Mischief Bay
Audio version

Book one of the Mischief Bay series.

This is the story of three friends. Each leading a
totally different sort of life. Still, they are always
there for each other. For the great and the
not so great times.
Nicole owns an exercise spa. She also teaches

there. She is married to Eric and they have a
wonderful little boy named Tyler.
Pam is married to John. She has her ever present

puppy named Lou Lou and they have three
grown children.
Shannon is the over achieving workaholic of the
group. Engaged twice. But never married.
Pam, Nicole and Shannon live in a

sweet wonderful place called Mischief Bay.

Their lives take so many twists and turns in this
story. You never know quite where things are going.
Which, of course, keeps you wondering and interested
in these women's lives. In the end, I could not believe
all that happened. The ups and downs that had come
along. I really enjoyed the story. The roller coaster
of emotions, mine and the characters. It was
a wonderful read and I am looking forward to
the next one in the series.
The story is narrated by Tanya Eby. She is very

popular because she is excellent. She has a pleasant
tone and flow in her narration style.

When the doorbell rang. Lou-Lou barked with excitement and
raced toward the front of the house. Pam followed. Surprisingly
eager for her company. She opened the door and nearly
started to cry again. Nicole stood with a take out bag in one hand
and a roller bag suitcase handle in the other. Tyler had a Brad
the Dragon back pack over his shoulders. "Hi!", Nicole said.
"We decided we want to spend the night. I hope that's ok."
Pam opened her arms, Nicole stepped into her embrace and
hung on like she was never going to let go. Tyler grabbed Pam's
leg and hugged tight too. Pam breathed deeply for the first time
in days and thought maybe, just maybe, this night
was going to be easier.
