Susan's Review of Cindy Kirk's Her Kind of Hero - Jackson Hole 6

Love isn’t on her list…

Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Mitzi Sanchez has always had a plan for her life.

Through hard work and self-sacrifice, she fulfilled her dream. Mitzi has a thriving practice and the spacious home she’s building in Jackson Hole is a far cry from the tiny apartment in East Los Angeles where she grew up.

Now she’s ready for a husband. She’s got a plan for that, too. Trouble is pilot and local handyman, Keenan McGregor, doesn’t meet any of the criteria.

After taking the blame for someone else’s actions, Keenan is in the process of rebuilding his life from the ground up. He doesn’t need unwanted distractions—in the form of a sexy doctor—causing him to lose focus.

Only when they find themselves falling reluctantly in love do they realize plans need contingencies. Like what to do when you forgot to factor in love…

I adored Mitzi Sanchez and Keenan McGregor’s opposites attract romance in Her Kind of Hero! Loved the pairing of Mitzi, the successful surgeon with the down-to-earth Keenan.

Mitzi was a secondary character in Healing the Doctors Heart. I admired her commitment to her career and her loyalty to her friend, Dr. Kate McNeal. Kate understands her friend’s desire to settle down. She also appreciates Mitzi’s determination to put her less than perfect childhood behind her and build a successful career. Kate remembered that Mitzi made etiquette lists during her residency so she would embarrass herself. Lists when she wants to learn about art, wine and books. Kate is not surprised that Mitzi has created another list— A Husband List-because she understands Mitzi’s fear of making a mistake.

Mitzi and Keenan meet at his Welcome Home party and the chemistry between the couple sizzled. Mitzi was attracted to Keenan but quickly dismissed him because of his past. Keenan has to rebuild his career—and a successful man is at the top of her Husband List.

The author does a great job balancing Mitzi’s growing feelings towards Keenan with her need to stay on track with her goal. At first, Mitzi seemed very superficial as she focused on success, not love. Mitzi’s less than perfect childhood influenced her decisions. Even though Keenan is charming, smart and determined to re start his career as a pilot; he believes he is not good enough for Mitzi.

Loved the conflict in the story-love vs. career—it’s very relatable. Cindy Kirk creates memorable characters and the charming, hardworking Keenan and career focused Mitzi are two of my favorites. Loved how both characters grew in the novel. On the surface they seem totally opposite but, as I read the book I realized how much they had in common and that they complimented each other. The story was very moving and I could hear the emotion and feel the passion in their conversations.

If you are looking for a book that will make you laugh, cry and smile —then Her Kind of Hero is for you!

Table 19 - Movie Review

Table 19
Movie Review
★★★★★
I have been watching a lot of movies lately. I miss going
to the theater so much! And the best thing my library has
ever done is come up with curbside service.
Table 19 came out in 2017. I don't remember watching it
before. It is my kind of movie. So I probably did. Now
that I have watched it today, I realize what a quirky,
weird kind of movie it is. So fun, romantic, sad, silly,
hopeful and, oh did I mention, fun!!
I could recommend it for a girls evening or date night.
Either way. Very little cursing, I dont remember any
nudity. But it is not a family movie. Just a sweet
movie to remind us all that we arent perfect, we
are lucky to find someone to love and marriage
requires compromise and patience and determination.
Watch it and fall in love with your special someone again.

Susan's Review of Searching for Love-Melissa Foster

Zev Braden and Carly Dylan were co-explorers, best friends, and first loves. Their close-knit families were sure they were destined to marry—until a devastating tragedy struck, breaking the two lovers apart.
Over the next decade Zev, a nomadic treasure hunter, rarely returned to his hometown, and Carly became a chocolatier and built a whole new life across the country.
When a chance encounter brings them back into each other’s lives, can they find the true love that once existed, or will shattered dreams and broken hearts prevail?
Find out in Searching for Love, a deliciously sexy, funny, and emotional second-chance romance.

Can you ever forget your first love?

Zev Braden is back---Is Carly Dylan over him??

Searching for Love is the perfect second chance at love story. It’s brimming with emotions; heartache, fear, compassion and most of all love. Melissa Foster balances the couple’s sweet memories of their childhood friendship and romance with their present day love affair. Their One-Day list and love for adventure drew me into the story.

Carly and Zev’s story is deeply moving; the tragic death of a friend devastated the couple. Zev was unable to deal with the loss. He broke up with Carly and left town. Carly and Zev get their second chance when they run into each other at Zev’s brother’s wedding. Zev realizes that Carly has changed. He notices that Carly is no longer the confident, adventurous girl he remembered and wonders what happened to her dreams and sense of adventure.

For the past ten years, Zev has been searching for treasure, adventure and challenges. Loved the honest, candid discussion between Zev and his father; it is an important turning point in the novel. His father reminds Zev to forgive himself and then ask for Carly’s understanding. Zev is determined to find out if Carly has feelings for him. He turns on the Braden charm on full speed and send her gifts, leaves her messages taped to her car and takes her on a very, very romantic date. He has another surprise for Carly. Zev had discovered the wreck of the Pride near Silver Island in Massachusetts before he came to Colorado. Zev and Carly dreamed about the Pride and its treasure when they were younger.

Zev took Carly to Noah’s lab to work on the concretions because she became an important part of the discovery. I wanted Carly to take a leap of faith and trust Zev—trust in their love. With a little help from Birdie, Zev was able to surprise Carly and take her on a whirlwind trip to his boat in Massachusetts. The secondary characters of Birdie, Quinn, Cutter and Cowboy added to the storyline—I adored Birdie and her shopping sprees for Carly!

Loved that Melissa Foster made the couple dig deep and fight for their love story. Events have changed both characters. Zev has spent ten years searching for treasures beneath the sea while Carly has built a life filled with friends and a business she loves. Is the couple’s chemistry enough to overcome the obstacles that face them?

Searching for Love is fabulous summer read! Grab a glass of wine and some truffles and settle in for a fantastic read—you will enjoy every page of this book!
